Springtrap is a central antagonist in the Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) franchise, first appearing in Five Nights at Freddy's. He is the decayed and corrupted form of William Afton.

William Afton, a serial killer responsible for the murders of multiple children, used the springlock animatronic suit – originally designed to be worn by performers – to lure his victims. He was eventually cornered by the ghosts of his victims. Desperate, he entered the dilapidated Spring Bonnie suit.

Due to a combination of moisture and faulty mechanisms, the springlocks failed, crushing and killing Afton inside the suit. He remained trapped for decades, becoming a grotesque amalgamation of flesh and metal now known as Springtrap.

Driven by a thirst for continued revenge, Springtrap haunts the various locations of the FNAF games, seeking to eliminate anyone who stands in his way.
